Artist Name: Thiago Mazza
Technique: Graffiti, murals
About: Thiago Mazza was raised in the countryside of Minas Gerais, Brazil with a childhood surrounded by animals, plants and birds. He moved to Belo Horizonte, the capital of Minas Gerais to study, he graduated in Graphic Design and worked as an illustrator in advertising agencies, but did not developed his career in this field.
Shortly after graduating, Mazza quit his job and started experimenting as an artist doing some painting and developing his techniques. Autodidact, Mazza began painting with the influence of graffiti friends. He calls himself a muralist, even though he devotes part of his time to creating canvases.
His first major work was the wall of his own room, painted at the end of 2011. Since then, he has developed his own style and his murals can be seen in several points of Belo Horizonte, the city where he lives. In addition to painting murals and canvases, Mazza also got good partnerships with some brands such as Adidas and Jack Daniel’s (he painted two sculptures of 2 meters long for the brand’s birthday).
The work of the artist reflects his passion for nature, inspired by surrealism, urban culture and music. Always using vibrant colors, he is very consistent on the type of outlines, the mosaic of his forms, the excess of elements and even the mysticism.
Mazza floats between the wild and the urban, the natural and the manufactured, the passion and the melancholy, as does his own personality: intense and striking.
Where you can see it: In Belo Horizonte, São Paulo, Barcelona, Madrid, Nigrán (in the region of Pontevedra, Spain) and more.
